Editing Services
At Misaki Marketing Communications we also provide editing and proofing services. Many of our clients want us to edit existing articles, books, web pages, letters or other marketing materials they’ve already written. In addition, our proofing service is especially valuable before a newsletter is published or a brochure is printed.
All editing services are charged by the word or page. Misaki Marketing Communications recognizes 250 words to one page, which is the industry standard. We use and refer to the Associated Press Stylebook for style guidance unless you request The Chicago Manual of Style.
Our general editing services are broken down into three levels: proofreading, standard editing, and comprehensive editing. In addition to these editing services, Misaki Marketing Communications also provides web page editing and book manuscript editing.
Proofreading – This level of editing service is very basic and generally covers spelling, capitalization, typos, punctuation, minor grammatical errors, formatting, and style guide adherence. Our Proofreading rate is $.015 per word or $3.75 per page.
Standard Editing – When providing the editing service we include all of the basic Proofreading level of service as well as sentence structure, word choice, repetitiveness, grammatical choices, clarity and sense, consistency and tone, awkward phrasing, and rhythm. Our Standard Editing rate is $.025 per word or $6.25 per page.
Comprehensive Editing – This level of editing is the most in-depth and may involve content rewrites based on our understanding of the author’s goals. In addition to the services provided with the Proofreading and Standard Editing levels, the Comprehensive Editing services include organization and structure of overall piece (i.e. article, brochure, etc.), target audience consideration, transitions of paragraphs and topics, overall readability, potential additions or deletions, and alteration of content. Comprehensive Editing rate is $.045 per word or $11.25 per page.
Web Page Editing – When editing web pages, we provide the Standard Editing level of service plus a review of keyword usage, linking for content potential, linking for external site potential, consistency of content on entire site, and testing of all links. Our Web Page Editing rate is $.045 per word or $11.25 per page.
Book Manuscript Editing – Our book manuscript editing is thorough. In addition to the Comprehensive Editing level of service, we provide overall chapter organization, title name suggestions, table of contents creation, manuscript formatting, index creation, etc. Due to the nature and length of book manuscripts, please contact us regarding a quote for book manuscript editing services.
